Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused from exposure to asbestos. Its most common location is the outer
lining of the lungs and internal chest wall. Inhaled or ingested asbestos fibers may cause the tissues to become
inflamed and disrupth the function of internal organs which lead to the development of this rare disease.
Many people that develop mesothelioma have worked at jobs where asbestos was present and most likely inhaled the
asbestos fibers.

These industries commonly used asbestos materials in their enviroment. The lawsuits awards have been large to date
due to the seriousness of the condition.

The initial phase of Mesothelioma discovery is usally through a CT Scan and then through a biopsy. Once discovered
it is treated through chemotheraphy, surgery, and radiation therapy however the long term survival of a patient can
be low. Up to 75% of patients treated early live at least 5 years after the initial treatment
